‘I processed thousands of ICs for Sabah illegals’

A former ISA detainee has claimed she and her group had helped process “thousands of identity cards” for Sabah illegal immigrants in the early 1990s to help topple the PBS state government.Sixty-three-year-old Siti Aminah Mahmud (right) was detained under ISA in 1995 for two years for her alleged involvement in the IC project.Speaking at a press conference in Petaling Jaya today, she described how she had been tasked with collecting information for the illegal immigrants’ IC application and handing the issued ICs to village chiefs throughout Sabah, to be issued to foreigners who were mostly Indonesians and Filipinos.
Siti Aminah said she had been instructed to facilitate the issuance of ICs for the foreigners as part of a plan to help Umno take over Sabah.“It was in the early 1990s, I was told to help Umno to contest in Sabah and defeat PBS by conducting Project IC in Sabah.“There were five tasks for me – helping to campaign, increasing Malay voters, locating villagers in rural areas especially those who have no IC at the border of Sabah-Indonesia, and ensuring the victory of Umno in toppling PBS,” she said at the press conference, where PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin was also present.

Originally from Sabah and residing in Skudai, Johor, Siti Aminah was a member of Johor Baru Umno then and was asked by her cousin, who was also an Umno member, to help the party in Sabah.

She was continuously involved in the covert operation from 1990 to 1994, before she was detained under the ISA in 1995 over the operation.

Siti Aminah claimed the instruction was from the late Sabah Umno chief Datu Mustapha Datu Harun, who allegedly told her that the project was led by the then-prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and executed by then-deputy home minister Megai Junid Megat Ayub and Mahathir’s secretary Aziz Shamsuddin.

“I knew about it because Datu Mustapha told us not to be afraid about getting arrested. He said this is Mahathir’s and Megat Junid’s project, and he said if he helps Umno to win, he would be appointed as state governor.

“He said so during a mass briefing at the Umno office in Sembulan, Kota Kinabalu in the early 1990s,” she claimed.

‘Documents prepared within a month’

Elaborating on the operation, Siti Aminah said the related documents were prepared within a month after the forms were processed.

“We gave out the forms and later handed them over over to the National Registration Department (NRD) and the Umno office in Sembulan. After that, we just distributed the completed ICs to village chiefs.

“I don’t know (the village chiefs). We went in a group of five. One recorded (the details), one collected fingerprints, and I sometimes arranged forms. I went to Sabah twice a week.

“We found a village, we gathered several people without ICs. The motive was indeed (to give them ICs),” she explained.

Among others, the IC were given to a group of Indonesians in a Felda area in Sandakan, she claimed.

“After collecting the forms, we handed them over to the NRD and the Umno office. Not some but in bags. The process to get ICs would be completed in a month or slightly more than that.

“After we submitted the forms, the process took a month and the ICs will be completed and distributed back to the villages.”

Siti Aminah claimed that those ICs can be identified by the special code printed on the back of the ICs.

“The project IC code is 04 and 05. It is on the back of the ICs. Only NRD people can identify them.”

From 1990 to early 1995, the average number of ICs given to Filipinos and Indonesians was

nothing less than half a million, according to her estimation.

“The areas with the highest numbers were Tawau, Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu, as well as areas at the Tawau-Indonesia border. Another area was Semporna. Many were given there because many Filipinos were there.”

Some 100 persons in her team were individuals who were not working with NRD.

They also told the village chiefs who collected the ICs from them to help inform those IC holders to vote for Umno.

She did not know whether the village chiefs had received any money, but she and her team received no pay except a transport allowance.

“I volunteered myself and I went there to fight for Umno because I was an Umno member in Johor then. Hence, I was called to campaign in Sabah.”

Although not summoned to testify in the ongoing public hearing of the royal commission of inquiry on the Sabah immigrants issue, Siti Aminah hoped she will be given the opportunity to tell her story to the commission.

WASHINGTON POST : MALAYSIA FINALLY RECOGNISED AS A WORLD CHAMPION – IN CORRUPTION

Image

JUST  A REMINDER….DO SOMETHING FOR THE FUTURE OF YOUR CHILDREN !!!

Congratulations ! Finally, we are now world champion in something ……..corruption.
Bring out the champagne or vote out BN?

Malaysia is world champion in corruption
Washington, December 13, 2012

Despite Malaysia ‘s high-profile anti-corruption crusade, half of the corporate executives surveyed by a global corruption watchdog believe that competitors have obtained business in the country through bribery.
Transparency International said Malaysia scored worst in the 2012 Bribe Payers Survey. It asked nearly 3,000 executives from 30 countries whether they had lost a contract in the past year because competitors paid a bribe, and in Malaysia , 50% of them said ‘yes’.

Second on the dubious honor roll was Mexico , which was at 48%.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Japan was ranked as the world’s least-corrupt place to do business, with just 2% of respondents saying they had lost out due to bribery.

Malaysia ‘s neighbour Singapore was second-cleanest, which was at 9%.
Even Indonesia , with a long-standing reputation for corruption, fared better than more-developed Malaysia . By comparison, 27% of respondents in China said they thought bribes had cost them business, the report said.

“It shows the attitude of private companies in Malaysia , indicating that bribery in the public sector could be systemic and in a sense institutionalized,” Paul Low, president of the Malaysian chapter of Transparency International, said.

Why not when the President of the apex organization for fight corruption i.e. Transparency International Malaysia himself is not perfect. His has a questionable integrity. He also does not practice transparency by getting the Federation Of Manufacturers Malaysia to control Transparency International Malaysia.
Moreover Transparency International Malaysia has been receiving annual grant of between MYR 300,000 to MYR 1 million from PETRONAS apart from PETRONAS taking care of all administrative expenses in Transparency International Malaysia for the last 10 years. So does Transparency International Malaysia qualifies to be called a “NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION” especially with many members including the President himself sitting on board of directors and commissions of many governmental organizations and government linked companies ?

To most Malaysians, the definition of “transparency and integrity” is “buat pandai-pandai and don’t be caught, as long not caught red-handed and convicted in the Court of Law, everybody can claim to be corruption fighter”.

HRF report to Washington: Institutional Racism in Malaysia

Written by Human Rights Foundation Malaysia
Wednesday, 30 November 2011 13:06
Social
CPI introduction

Below is the executive summary made by P. Waytha Moorthy, the founder of Hindraf and leader of the Human Rights Foundation Malaysia.

Also uploaded is the paper presented before the US House Committee on foreign affairs and the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission.

According to its brief, “Human Rights Foundation Malaysia is an organisation dedicated to the protection and promotion of Human Rights for the marginalised in Malaysia. We document and report all forms of violations, give voice to the oppressed and hold the Government accountable for its Human Rights violations. We lobby International support for the marginalised community and submit Independent reports and evidence to International bodies.”

Institutional Racism and Religious freedom in Malaysia
Executive summary
Institutional racism is the process by which people from ethnic minorities are systematically discriminated against by a range of public and private bodies. If the result or outcome of established laws, customs or practices is racially discriminatory, then institutional racism can be said to have occurred.

Dr.Benjamin Bowling

(Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice and Director of Criminological studies in the School of Law, King’s College London.)

Malaysia has all the hallmark of a racist and religious extreme state on the following foundation;

a) The Federal Constitution entrenched with a racist provision vide Article 153 ( Malaysian brand of apartheid)

b) The State sanctions racist and religious extreme laws and policies

c) State control of Government Administration by 1 race/religious group

d) State channel of most funds for economic/education/development programs and licenses, permits ect to 1 race

e) State control of Religious freedom to disadvantage of non-Muslims, imposition of Muslim religious laws and compelling jurisdiction of Syaria Courts on non-Muslims.

f) State sponsored violence/threat of violence both directly and outsource to other groups on objections by citizens

g) State sanction of draconian, punitive laws and the blank cheque given to Police to make arbitrary arrests on dissent.

h) State declaration that the Malays are the masters (Malay Supremacy) and sons of soil.

Ethnic groups in Malaysia : Malay 53.3%, Chinese 26.0%, indigenous 11.8%, Indian 7.7%, others 1.2%.

Religions: Islam (60.4%), Buddhism (19.2%), Christianity (9.1%), Hinduism (6.3%), other/none (5.0%). – US Department of State 2011

Malaysia is a country based on a subtle, pervasive and increasingly aggressive form of racism. The conflict that lies just below this artificial calm state, is so well concealed, that to someone with just a cursory knowledge Malaysia would find it hard to believe and this is part of the problem.

Malay supremacy or Malay dominance is the claim that the Malay Muslims are the tuan (masters) of Malaysia. The Chinese and Indians, who form a significant minority in Malaysia, are considered beholden to the Malays for granting them citizenship in return for special privileges as set out in Article 153 of the Malaysian Constitution.

Article 153 is a deep-rooted racist provision in the Constitution which sanctions implementation of all racist policies in Malaysia to the disadvantage of the minority non-Malay/Muslim population. Questioning any matter, rights, status, privilege ect of Article 153 is considered a challenge to the Malay Supremacy, insulting the Royal Institution and Islam. It is also deemed a threat to National Security, an offence under the Internal Security Act which gives powers of arrest for unlimited period without trial and under the Sedition Act which provides for imprisonment between 3-5 years.

Since the Democratic uprising of Hindraf in 2007 and the subsequent loss of its 2/3 Parliamentary mandate in the March 2008 elections, Government has outsourced its overt racist agenda to NGO’s in particular PERKASA. This is an NGO led by a Pro Government Parliamentarian who promotes the Malay Muslim supremacy agenda and has the explicit support of top Government leadership including the former Prime Ministers, ex Army officials and ex Inspector General of Police.

PERKASA works intimately with a more militant group known as Pekida and another underworld Para- military group known as 3 LINE. Together they perpetuate racial hatred and cause fear among the non-Malays.

Government budgetary allocations.

All Government projects are primarily given to Malay Muslim Bumiputra individuals and organizations.

All Government contractors have to be licensed by the Finance Ministry before being given any Government projects.

Malays have been promoted in the Civil service to assure that the highest policy-making positions will be filled by Malays regardless of objective performance standards.

As of June 2005, more than 85% of the Civil Servants were Malay Muslims. This was an increase of close to 25% from 1971.

The FELDA Scheme – Federal Land development Authority

There is a systematic and wholesale exclusion of Non-Malays from this program. Indian plantation workers who were being actively displaced at the time of the growth of this FELDA scheme in the 1970s and 1980s were not considered part of the target group, because they were not categorized as being from the rural community. This was convenient way to exclude. An estimated 800,000 Indian plantation workers have been displaced from plantations without any alternative programs/compensation.

FELDA, FELCRA, PERDA, KEDA, KETENGAH, KESEDAR, KEJORA and a host of other development agencies use procedural techniques of one form or another such as this to entirely exclude the deserving non-Malays.

FELDA show a total turnover of RM 11.8 Billion. The profits before tax alone are RM804 million5.

A RM 120 million residential school for FELDA children – a Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Trolak, Perak. Compare this with the recent promise of an allocation of RM100 million by the Prime Minister for 523 Tamil schools in the country, for which there is no evidence of disbursement anyway. There are 42 MRSM schools like the one above in the country.

In 1980, the World Bank raised concerns over the ethnic bias in FELDA settler selection by pointing out that if the government was serious “about increasing the non-Malay share in agriculture, some increase in the non-Malay share of settlers was warranted

The Tekun Nasional scheme is a scheme to provide micro credit and to develop majority Malay Muslim entrepreneurs.

For the year 2008 alone TEKUN Nasional has provided RM 182 million as loans to 19,000 entrepreneurs.

That is close to RM1 Billion -not to mention almost all those loans went to Malay Muslim entrepreneurs. Participation in the Tekun program of Indians is miniscule – a total of 93 Indian entrepreneurs received loans amounting to RM761,000 on July 24, 2009 in a ceremony.8 That is less than 0.1% of that disbursed to the Malay Muslim entrepreneurs.

The collusion of the various arms of the Government to keep dissent in check

Some of the key ones are :

1. Government Linked Companies

2. Government Investment Companies

3. Economic Planning Unit

4. The Federal Cabinet of Ministers

5. The various Ministries

6. The Royal Malaysian Police

7. The Attorney general’s Office

8. The Judiciary

9. The Government Administrative Services

10. The Government owned Banks

11. The Government controlled media

The Government has used suppressive laws like the Internal Security Act, the Official Secrets Act, Printing Presses and Publications Act, the Seditions Act during this period to implement these terribly racially lopsided development plans while allowing the racist system to grow

Given the need to maintain a racist regime, the Police have become a primary instrument of control for the majority Malay Muslim party in Government –UMNO. Police violence, abuse of power and human rights abuses occur very regularly. Cases of death in custody, partial handling of criminal disturbances, violent dispersal of peaceful protestors and other form of human rights violation continue. This has created a climate of impunity and normalization of violence, abuse of power and violation of human rights in Malaysia.

More than 77% of the Government administration members are of Malay Muslim ethnicity. About 20% the Indian members and about 60% of the Chinese members of the Government administration are teachers in the Government Vernacular schools. If they are excluded from the numbers employed by the Government administration, the picture that emerges is about an overall participation of 85% Malays in the administration

The Malay Muslim employees of the administration go through special programs of training called National Civics Bureau where they are all educated on how to keep “the wealth of the family within the family” in short how to operationalize the racist policies of the Government. This is a much criticized activity, but the Government continues with impunity as it is a key approach in recreating that racist bureaucracy.

The Mainstream media blocks out, demonizes and distorts information of any organization that speaks out against this racist system in a coordinated fashion. The Government uses the Printing Presses and Publications Act and limiting ownership to known allies to control the Media to do this.

There are an estimated 150,000 – 200,000 Indian children who are stateless due to the States’ reluctance to recognize them as Malaysians. This is operationalized by the racist state bureaucracy. As result they are not admitted in Schools, enjoy health care and other benefits a child enjoys.

The racial bias in the educational system is the area where racism is most blatant – all the way from pre-school and primary education up to Tertiary levels.

There are 42 fully residential elite Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) (Mara junior Science College) (NST 5/4/08) with 12,440 places also in the fully residential schools (BH 21/11/09 at page 7). These schools have been almost exclusively for Malay Muslim students

Non-Malays are also almost 100% excluded in other elite schools like the Royal Military College, Aminuddin Baki Institution, Matriculation courses and the Malay College Kuala Kangsar.

There are two streams for entry into the Public Universities. One is through the Matriculation 12 month program specifically tailored for the Malay Muslim students and the other is through the 18 month and much more stringent STPM program

Admissions into public Universities is more than 80% reserved for the Malays Muslims. One university with a student population of 170,000 in 2011(UiTM) is for Malay Muslims only. The other 19 public Universities with about 170,000 enrolments in all have a 60% Malay Muslim students making it 80% for Malay Muslims in all Public Universities. This does not even talk about the composition in the various courses offered.

There are 62,000 diploma places and 60,000 degree places for 2010 at 27 Polytechnics in Malaysia. These are exclusively for the Malay Muslim students.

There are 163,779 students studying at the 19 other Public Universities nationwide at an annual expenditure cost of RM 2.6 Billion15. Our estimate is a mere 5 % of this expenditure will accrue to non-Malay students.

RM 2.8 Billion is allocated for the 2010 National Budget for student’s assistance scholarships. Most of the funds go for scholarships to Malay Muslim Students.

1,266,671 students (estimated 90% Malay Muslims) have benefited from the government PTPTN (Government Higher Education Loan Fund) study loans till 2009. 147,441 such loans were approved at RM 17.0 Billion (UM 25/3/08 at page 31).

The constitution provides for freedom of religion; however, the constitution and the government placed restrictions on this right. The constitution defines all ethnic Malays as Muslims at birth and stipulates that Islam is the “religion of the Federation.”

Civil courts continued to concede jurisdiction to Sharia courts on cases concerning conversion from Islam and certain areas of family law involving disputes between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Forced religious conversions and religious intolerance are evidence of creeping Islamization in Malaysia. Whenever there is a conflict between Muslim and non-Muslims, the tendency is for Muslim Laws to prevail over the non-Muslim issues regardless of the merits of the case.

The decision of the Court of Appeal on 21st August 2010 in the case of Maniam Moorthy is a disturbing trend in the role of the Judiciary which has abdicated its powers to the inferior Sharia Courts which was meant to serve the Muslims only on matters (personal) pertaining to marriage, divorce, property distribution ect.

Lina Joy, 42, who was born to a Malay Muslim couple, became a Christian when she was 26.

She lost her final round of appeal when the Federal Court dismissed her appeal on 30th May 2007 against a ruling that the National Registration Department was right not to allow her to remove the word “Islam” from her identity card.

In August 2010 The newspaper of the Catholic Church in Malaysia, The Herald, filed a legal suit at following warnings that its permit could be revoked if it did not cease use of the word “Allah” in the Malay language section of its newspaper.

Several Malaysian churches have been attacked and fire bombed, leaving at least one badly damaged, in an escalating dispute over the use of the word “Allah” by Christians.

A religious edict (fatwa) by a Muslim cleric in the state of Sabah caused the Sabah state government to cancel the construction of a 108 feet Goddess of Sea Mazu statue by the Taoist in 2008.

In August 2011 The Selangor Religious Department raided a Church dinner function organised by an NGO on allegation of Christian proselytizing campaign.

According to the government, it allocated 428 million ringgit (approximately $125.9 million) to build Islamic places of worship and 8.1 million ringgit ($2.4 million) to build Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, and other minority religions’ places of worship between 2005 and the end of 2008. (in answer to a Parliamentary question)

Throughout the years since Malaysian independence in 1957, the government has been disregardful of the systematic destruction of Hindu places of worship, which previously stood on estates and state owned estates and land. An estimate of about 10,000 Hindu places of worship have been demolished.

The government justifies the demolition of the places of worship on the grounds that they were illegally constructed or were occupying government land. Planning and building laws never existed at the time of the construction of these places of worships.

Conclusion

Promoting freedom and democracy and protecting human rights around the world is central to U.S. foreign policy and consistent with the values upon which the United States was founded. The Malaysian minorities long to live with dignity and freedom but are denied dignity and freedom by a racist regime that has developed over the last 50 years in the name of affirmative action for the majority. The endless extensions of the affirmative action policies have now led to serious Human Rights violations of the minorities in the country. This is inconsistent with developments around the world and with the aspirations of the minorities of Malaysia. It is time for the international community to hold the Malaysian government accountable for this performance. The world has to wake up to these developments in Malaysia, for the future of this trajectory is being told many times over, in what is happening around the world today.

‘Murtad kerana Kristian’

“Sepatutnya mereka bicara isu besar seperti perebutan mayat saudara baru.”

Gambar oleh: The Star Online.

In June 1998, the government of Malaysia had hired a team of expertsfrom all over the world to be gathered here in Malaysia for a researchproject to compliment the history studies that we undertake in our secondary school. The objective of the research is simply:

1. To find proof and evidence that show the Malays are the origins ofMalaysia and they are the first race and religion that land their foot in Malaysia.

2. To further strengthen their claims, first they need to find thegrave yard of the Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat, Hang Lekiu and etc.. to showthe existence of their pioneers.

3. The Batu bersurat in Terengganu, reveals that the islamic religion has landed in malaysia for more than a hundred years ago which furtherstrengthen their claims!

BEWARE & OPEN YOUR EYES!!! go and ask your brother, sister, niece, nephew and etc. etc, since the year 1999 (if i’m not mistaken) or year 2000, do they study about HANG TUAH anymore ???

Why is that popular subject GONE ??? Missing in action ??? orevidence reveals something else that causes the government tostop the syllabus and HIDE the TRUTH ???

Here are the Evidences of the findings by the team of scientists, archaeologist, historian and other technical staff from the UnitedStates, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Yemen & Russia.

The evidence are:

1) They finally found the grave yard of Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat andetc…, their skeleton had been analise and samples of DNA had beentaken with the results show: Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat, Hang Lekiu andmates, they are NOT MALAY!!! they are CHINESE (islamic) from China!!! and why are they here in Malacca??? because they are in a mission toprotect the UNGRATEFUL MALAY from the potential attack ofSIAM(Thailand) !!!

So Hang tuah is not malay hero!!! They are the protector of the useless and ungrateful Parameswara (who is from INDONESIA) landed inMalacca and claim the land belongs to him !!!

The Hang Tuah bunch of people are all from China, they are beingassign to Malacca because Parameswara request the Ching Dynasty Emporer for protection!!!

This is why the Hang Tuah series of history is MISSING from SEJARAH !!!

Note : Remember Hang Li Poh ? – All surname “HANG”

2nd. Evidence:
The researchers hired by the government found the oldest tomb stone (grave yard) in Kelantan in year 2000. Suprisingly the tomb stone areat least 900 years old !!! Older than the so-called batu bersurat.and the best thing is, it belong to the CHINESE !!!

Being landed first in Malacca doesn’t mean Malay is the first in Malaysia cos during that time, the road is too long for them to seethe other side of the coast!!! Where the Chinese has landed far more earlier. If you want the black and white evidence of the truthreveals please write to The Federal Association of Arc & Research of Michigan, USA.

The evidence shows that Malays are NOT the original people of Malaysia

TANAH MELAYU FORMERLY NAMED BARR CHIN

April 29, 2010 Comments off

By Michael Chick

Michael Chick goes back to old Arabic maps to find that Tanah Melayu was actually called Barr Chin or Tanah China . So who is the Pendatang?

Even our famous Professor of History does not know this as he only refers to English texts. A shame, isn’t it?

The Great Tanah Melayu Debate

We hear UMNO’s cries for “Brain Gain”, caused by excruciating “Brain Drain”, in the wake of hundreds of thousands of Malaysians who are fleeing their country. We’ve heard the many alleged reasons provided from both sides of the fence. One of the strongest seems to be the fact that UMNO is asking all “pendatangs” to leave the country if they are not happy.

By Michael Chick

Well, Robert Kwok certainly did just that. And along with him, his entire businesses worth billions in “Tax Drain”. BTN has also been copiously assisting, by enthusiastically brainwashing simple minds into thinking that “Tanah Melayu” is reserved for Orang Melayu. Of course, they quickly tell you that anyone can become an Orang Melayu by speaking, dressing, and behaving like one (what! ever that means, who knows?).

Well, UMNO managed to achieve one thing. The BTN-type morons, and their predecessors, have been overwhelmingly successful in brainwashing todays’ 27 million citizens. Who says that the Peninsular was ALWAYS called “Tanah Melayu”? This is a recent British Term!! Let me dedicate this Article to the foremost “so-called reknown Historian” of the country. Prof Dr Emeritus Khoo Khay Khim (and anyone else who claims to be as competent in History as well).

Prior to “Tanah Melayu” being a British Tag in the 19th century, the peninsular was formerly known as Malacca in the 15th century. The newly-renamed book “Sejarah Melayu” (previously known as “Asal-Usul Raja-Raja”) mentions every other place from India to China , including the tiny-speck-of-dirt called Temasik EXCEPT “Tanah Melayu”. Why was Tanah Melayu NEVER MENTIONED in Sejarah Melayu? Simple!! Because that was not it’s name!! !

Tanah Melayu was NEVER the name until the British came and colonized the Peninsular.

(please see map below)

Since UMNO has a habit of believing that “whatever is older is better”, let’s take a short walk down this slippery slope of history. (Also, BTN-Baru syllabus planners should start taking notes.)

For starters, “Malaya ” in Tagalog means “Peaceful” (go ask your Pinoy maid).

Malai” means “Hill” in Tamil; as in “mini-Himalaya” to describe the Titiwangsa Range on the said Peninsular since the 2nd century by the Gujerati Traders who helped the local Malays set up their formidable Hindu Empire at Lembah Bujang.
ref: Prof Nik Hassan, Tom Harrison, and H.G Quatrich Wales

Also read he re: http://www.astigan.com/2009/03/06/ppag-unearths-evidence-of-iron-industry-in-lembah-bujang/

Only in the 19th Century was The Peninsular known as “Tanah Melayu”.

In the 15th Century, the Peninsular was known by no other name than “The Malacca Peninsular”.

Before “that Rebel-Indonesian Guy” came over here (look, he wanted to kill his own father; what else do you want me to call Parameswara?), the Peninsular was known as “Barr Kra” in the 10th Century. Before that, the Peninsular was known as the “Golden Chersonese” since the 2nd Century.

“Golden Chersonese is the ancient name to refer to the Malay Peninsula by Claudius Ptolemy or Claudius Ptolemaeus (Greek: ; c. 90 – c.. 168). Known in ! English as Ptolemy, he was a Greek-speaking geographer, astronomer, and astrologer. During Roman times, the Malay Peninsula developed an international reputation as a source of gold; hence the name was given.”

By the way, “Barr” simply means “Land” in the Persian Language. And Barr Kra above, means “ Land of Kra ” (as in reference to the Isthmus of Kra ).

But I’ve saved the best for last, as usual. And I hope all you soon-to-be “Brain Gain” people are sitting down reading this ….

The earliest known Arabic Maps refer to the Peninsular as “Barr CHIN”.

Where Chin refers to CHINA ! Why did the Arabs call this Peninsular “Tanah China” instead of “Tanah Melayu”? When Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. spoke about “Exotic Tanah China ”, was he actually refering to Malaya ? After all, according to records, Malayan Gold Mines was already famous 500 years BEFORE the Prophet was born!! As his wife, Khadijah was a Great Trader. He must have known!

Footnote: Chin is spelt “Xin” by the Portuguese, but always pronounced as Chin.

Alright, it’s now public!! The oldest known Arab Maps called the Peninsular “Barr Chin”; which translates to “Tanah China ”, or “ Land of Chinese ”. BTN can now implement this
new found knowledge into their syllabus. You cannot deny that you don’t know it now! Perhaps if you spoke Hokkien, dressed like a Hokkien, and practised Hokkien Customs, the Hokkiens might be gracious enough to accept you. Sounds absurd? Absolutely; and so does the other “Great Race-Changing Trick” practised by UMNO. And I quote Prof Dr Anthony Milner (ANU), “If it’s so easy to join a race, it must be equally easy to ‘un-join’ that race …

Alright, Prof Khoo, your turn now …

This will be the first exercise in “Brain Gain” which UMNO is allegedly proposing, for the greater good of 1Malaysia; plus, I’ll even give you a hint: (because I’m nice and assume that you actually really, really, really, don’t know ….)

It’s a Dark Green Hardcover Book about an inch thick; usually reserved for Academicians like yourself. So you won’t find it in Popular, MPH, Wiki, Amazon or any Pasar Malam. I’m sure that Great Historians like yourself, have your own Jstor Accountnumber.

Unfortunately, it’s written ! in English, so UMNO people cannot possibly understand it; because, as they say it so eloquently, “…that English sounds like strange babbling….
So be nice, Prof, and please translate it for them. And in my best Manglish,
Can translate or not? Please?

Me? I’ll take a nice stroll over to the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies here in Leiden, to read more on this …. I’d better put on a Jacket too, it’s a li! ttle nippy today.

Doei!! Pronounced, ‘do-we’ in Dutch.
